When I discover a painting that I would add to my favorites list, it probably means I should present its painter in one of these articles.
But what should I do when I discover 50 paintings which I truly like, and no matter how much I stare at them, I cannot decide which one I like best?
Ever since I started this site, I end up liking more and more the painters I discover. Hard to think I am discovering in any particular order. It’s my taste that probably is in a continuous change. Or, always subjected to so much beautiful works, I like the art of painting more and more.
I do not know how to explain the thrill I had when I discovered Gleb Goloubetski.
He was born in Siberia. His father, who died when Gleb was six, was a painter as well and his grandfather was an architect. His mother manages an art gallery in Omsk, Gleb’s home town. He found his love for painting as a child. At the age of 15, he was selling his first painting.
He studied art at the St. Petersburg academy. He has a very well defined and unusual style, with powerful and highly visible brush strokes, carefully chosen to seem imprecise (though, if you look closely, the outline of his buildings and objects is very precise).
He loves traveling, especially to warm climates as in Greece, Italy and Egypt. wherever he goes, he paints a lot, focusing on houses, flowers, contrast, texture, romantic places. His subjects are exactly those I would choose for my own paintings. I love them, they are setting me in a state of bliss, holiday, warmth.
He now lives in Prague, he has shows in the Check republic, Germany and England.
I am curious, which painting of the gallery bellow would you choose, if you were to choose just one, the one you like the most?
He does not have an own site but he is present on many art gallery websites. His best representation is the one on Sargent’s Fine Art

I like Old City for it’s deafening silence. It’s a surprise NOT to see any people and adds so much strength to the painting.
I do too, though I’d probably choose one of his dorway for my personal favorite. Probably tuscan Doorway, for its exhuberant colors (and cause I have a soft spot for compositions with doors or windows).
Did you know mr. Goloubestski’s work prior to this? Isn’t it superb?
My wife and I first saw Gleb’s work at Sargent’s in Lahaina, Maui. We saw many of his other works there and established an immediate connection to the fine pieces. The compositions are very much that of a photographer (I am one and can see these art pieces as if through a camera lens – a bit predictable I might say. However we were very much captivated with Venice Morning, particularly the artist’s ability to convey light. This work was positively luminescent. Bravo!
Oh, I think predictable is not a word I would use…
I just returned from Maui myself and seeing Gleb’s work as large as a wall, standing 3 feet from you is fantastic.
LaHaina is one big collection of art, isn’t it?
I think there are 4 or 5 galleries in less then half a mile.
There I found about 2 more painters I need to present but I still haven’t found the time …
Can anyone help me and give me a current price range (in either GBP, USD or EURO) for original Goloubetski works? I cannot seem to get in contact with any gallery owners about this and am interested in adding one to my collection (as long as it is in my price range). Thank you in advance!

Hi there.
I will get you in touch with Gleb’s art dealer, Lee Rylee.
Let me know…
I own 2 paintings by Gleb which I LOVE. I bought them both in London where I live. One is a Venice doorway and another is a misty view of the Houses of Parliament in London. We met Gleb on a couple of occasions and he is delightful.
Gleb Goloubetski is an exceptional artist and it is an honor to present his work at my London Gallery: Graham Fine Art. As the images above demonstrate, out of the 53 paintings you show, more than 40 have been presented at and purchased from Graham Fine Art, London.
My wife and I saw Gleb’s work in a New Orlean’s gallery about 10 years ago and loved it. I then researched it through the web and discovered his ARTYX site. The prices then were reasonable and the work supurb so a beautiful interior country house scene became our first art purchase. The texture, color, perspective and detail of the painting is amazing and I never tire of looking at it. Since then, we have purchased 25+ paintings of listed artists at auction but Gleb’s work still hangs above the sofa in our formal living room and holds its own very well when compared to our other museum quality paintings. It appears he has prospered and progressed since our purchase and I would still buy the painting we purchased today.
Love Glebs work, We have the Venice Canal in our home and enjoy it every day… Thanks Gleb
