I have this article about David in draft since almost a year now.
I was not sure I’d be able to describe in words what I see when I watch one of his portraits.

He has an extraordinary capacity of conveying emotion. A great range of emotions, from melancholy to aggressiveness.
Some of his characters are a little bit mysterious, some look unexpectedly bored, some look like they are just about to speak to you.

This could not be accomplished but with a huge amount of skill. The impressive amount of details he captures in the human subjects of his work, so beautifully antagonized by the harsh cold wall they lean against make me want to be there to watch him paint.

That must be an extraordinary process.

David was born in 1977 in Arizona, went to school in Philadelphia, New York and Italy.
He started having important public exhibitions around the age of 20. He won some 15 awards
winning Portrait Society of America People’s Choice in 2007.
And I see on his blog that he is producing a DVD on the art of drawing.
